11 Email Subject Lines That Everyone Dreads

email-subject-lines

I read most of my emails in the morning, half asleep (I am not a morning person).

Every day at around 9 am, like a beast woken from her beauty sleep, I make an instinctive grab for my iPhone hiding somewhere underneath the blankets. After checking the time, I immediately start to scroll through emails. I suppose it's a way of slowly preparing myself for the day's onslaught of work.

Occasionally, however, I get emails that wake me up faster than a triple espresso. You know the sort. The ones with subject lines that make your heart skip a beat and make your eyes do a double take. In dedication to these, ahem, pesky awakenings, here are the worst emails subject lines you never ever want to see in your inbox.

Oh my, you cracked me with up the subject: 37 Reasons you’re still not Married”

this is a spot on! My mother actually sent me an e-mail containing links to some articles about why am I still not married. Ugh, mothers, really!!

  • Sophie says:

Back on my last job in an office, the first 3 subjects were really dreadful (plus the one from the bank), I usually receive them once a month. But the rest of the emails above, oh my goodness, what were those senders thinking?? Thanks for sharing this, it perked me up 🙂

  • Natashia says:

The third to the last one? Oh My Gosh! Is this real? Oh, I don’t know what would I ever do if I got an email with a subject line like that. Gosh, I swear, that would readily be taken to the spam folder. Ha ha!

  • I totally agree with all of these! I dread those kinds of subject lines on my emails. Sometimes, I just want to chuck ’em all out or transfer to Junk Mails. The one from the bank is my most dreaded one. (Shh… I’m a big spender, that’s why)

  • MJ says:

I can’t imagine not starting my day with my emails. As much as possible, I want to tackle all that needs to be done by checking my inbox the moment I wake up. But yes, when you do receive mails with any of those subject lines, I’d rather continue sleeping and not opening them until the end of the day.

Hmm, let’s see.. So far, the e-mail I most often received is from my boss, asking me to see him/her later. It’s not really a dreadful email subject, although sometimes, it was more like a warning when things didn’t go as planned. Luckily, that’s the one I often get and I’ve learned not to dread it anymore.

  • Gabrielle says:

I personally think those subject lines were cute and harmless, if not stating warnings. Except for the one from your “ex”and “fling” which I found quite disturbing.. Hmm, I don’t know, maybe it’s just me reacting because I just got away from a bad ex. 🙂
