Its obviously no secret that I love David Kind eye-wear. As mentioned in my last post about the David Kind brand, what’s so great about it is that it provides a service dedicated to helping you find the perfect pair of frames for your face. If you want more information about finding your which type of frames fit your face, check out this post featuring vital tips from a few fashion bloggers, as well.
So here’s how it works:
1. You tell them what your style preference is and you send a photo of yourself so they can see the gorgeous face they’re working with. You then have a personal optician who organizes a style profile for you.
2. You then get 6 frames on a trial period for 6 days. Have some fun and see what works for you and what doesn’t.
3. Lastly, you choose your frames and send the rest back. If you didn’t find what you want, your optician can continue to help you find what your looking for, until you meet your perfect match.
What I love about David Kind frames is that these aren’t just any frames you can find out and about. The quality of frames are fantastic. Once you receive your trial box, you’ll see just how impressive the brand really is. The knowledge and attention to detail the David Kind team displays is incredible.

The perfect pair of sunglasses can elevate any ensemble several notches. One would think that buying a pair is easy enough, right? Well, yes and no. While you may know what style you like, you might not be choosing the best style for the shape of your face. Essentially, its no different than carefully selecting which wardrobe pieces that are most flattering to our figure. The same way we mindfully assemble our wardrobe with clothes tailored for our body, we should be mindful of the type of “sunnies” we place on our face. We already covered how to pick the right frames for your face, so I decided to put together this how-to guide to answer the million-dollar question, “How do you choose the right sunglasses for your face?”
While chatting with celebrity stylist, Stevie Wilson and fashion bloggers, Marie Legette and Luciana Padula, I was able to get their expert opinion on how they find the right pair of sunglasses for their face and how you can do the same. Luciana, a fashion blogger for girlofstyleblog.com, has a tight criteria when searching for the the perfect pair, saying:
“I actually have a hard time choosing a great pair of sunglasses because of my face shape, so I look for bigger frames to balance out my high cheekbones… but that’s actually not all I look for when purchasing sunnies. I make sure the sunglasses don’t cover my eyebrows, sit well on my nose and are comfortable enough that they don’t leave a mark on the side of my nose when I take them off. If they fit that criteria, are in style, and a good price…they’re mine!”
Commenting on the key element of pairing style with functionality, Marie states, “Since I wear them all the time, I look for versatility, uniqueness, and the shape of the frame. I am rocking a brand new pair of clear cat eye frames and I love them. I FEEL fashion forward and these are both fashionable and functional. I have come a long way with frames!”
Stevie addressed key factors other than the shape of the face, saying, “Color is a very important factor in picking out frames for regular or sunglasses. Pick out a color that works with both hair color and skin-tone. Treat it like a cosmetic accessory that will perk up your face.”
When considering the style of the glasses, she continues,“Take a look at metal frames to see if your face can handle the style but also keep in mind the color. Metal frames are often more delicate but also bring a fashion savvy to the style that everyone seems to resonate with. Think of aviators as a style that works for both men and women – and it’s often very wearable whether casual or more formal. As for non-metal frames, look at the wide variety of colors and choose the color that best suits your hair and skin-tone, you don’t want the frames to wash out your look. The interesting aspect of non-metal frames is that there are choices in the material such as glossy (very shiny), matte and a mid-range slightly shiny or satin finish . The matte won’t reflect light so if you are frequently in photos or on video, that might be a great choice.”
There are so many options to choose from but don’t get overwhelmed! Just how these ladies each found a system that works for them, you will find one that works for you. Remember the key tips we covered to find a pair that will:
1) Flatter your face according to your knowledge and comfortability of your face shape,
2) Serve as both a fashionable and functional accessory and,
3) Works with both your hair color and skin-tone. Keeping these tips in mind, you’ll find
your perfect pair in no time!
