A Rendezvous at the New LAX

White Military Jacket

Los Angelenos might be familiar with the #LAXisHappening campaign taking over Instagram and Twitter feeds. An elevated way of saying “pardon the dust,” Los Angeles International Airport has been undergoing a major facelift in the form of a Fred Segal boutique, not-your-typical-airport-food eateries and luxury lounges.

Of course, I couldn't help taking a peek while waiting for my flight to Kuala Lumpur a few weeks ago.

As someone who has made LAX her second home by default (blame those 4am redeye work trips), I was delighted to see that the changes were not only aesthetically chic but that the overall airport experience changed.

There was still quite a bit of construction going on, but the line up of newly-opened duty-free shops and Sunset-worthy restaurants was impressive.

  • Leigh Curtis says:

Haven’t traveled outside CA for a while, been busy at work, is all. I’m amazed by the changes in LAX, thanks for sharing them, it would be so cool to lounge for a bit on all those new stalls while waiting for your flight. As always, look amazing, too!

  • Helga says:

You are stylish, really! Going to LAX had never been so much beautiful, I agree, with all the new changes happening there. Girl, you’re rockin’ that outfit!

  • Valerie says:

I love your airport outfit, so pretty and modern, plus with those big headphones, it does complete your contemporary look. I’d love to bump with you in the airport someday and share notes about fashion.. 🙂

  • Marielle says:

I was there a couple of days ago, and I agree, the improvements are much better and tolerable, since there are new sights to behold. I’d be happy to rendezvous with my friends there when we’re set for some high-flying adventures really soon!

  • Misty says:

I admit, I don’t really take a look at myself when I go to airports, I don’t have that many dresses or suits to choose from, I just go for jeans and T-shirts. But seeing you here with style and confidence, I’d love to challenge myself to look good once in a while, especially on airports since I travel out of the country most of the time. Maybe I’ll get to see the new LAX soon and get to wear something fab like yours 🙂

  • Ashley says:

I’m not a frequent flyer and have been to LA thrice. I definitely want to see the changes there in LAX the next time I visited my peers. Your airport outfit is awesome!

LAX has been busy this past few weeks with all the renovations undergoing. I often go through the stalls and take a cup of coffee while waiting for my flight, but in all those years that I’ve been flying, I’ve never looked as good as you. You are absolutely gorgeous with everything!

  • Xandra Collins says:

I love your black knee high boots, it made your legs look longer. Yes, there’s been heavy construction being done on LAX, I noticed that too a few weeks ago. Can’t wait to see the finished outcome soon!

  • Arianne says:

Yes, I’ve been seeing a lot of #LAXisHappening hashtags lately on IG and Twitter, and it really peaked my curiosity, since I’m not really much of a traveler and haven’t set foot on LAX in two years. I guess it’s time for me to spread my wings and fly this spring break and head over to LAX to see what’s been happening there. I’m sure I’d be totally psyched to see all those new stalls and boutiques when I decide to get there.

You, on the other hand, look simply amazing in everything! I love the boots and the headphones, so funky and cool!

  • Ruby Rose says:

Looks like I’m gonna see a lot of those improvements you mentioned the next time I go to LA. And I’m gonna make sure I’ll strut my way there with style 🙂

I love all these photos of you! That hot pink passport holder is adorable. I agree, LAX is look a whole lot better. Even terminal 5 was stocked with local bakeries and restaurants, which impressed me! I can now buy a flourless chocolate croissant before a flight, haha! Lots of love, Ellese from http://rockpaperglam.com/

And nice to see you there, too Heidi. I thought maybe one day I could bump into you (there in LAX)
