Switching Up Your Jewelry Easily

This blog post is created in partnership with Switch Jewelry. However all thoughts and opinion are my own (as always.)

I love jewelry and I truly feel the right pieces can make or break an outfit. This is especially true in a professional or business environment. You can’t get away with a crazy feather skirt on an everyday basis … but attention-grabbing earrings or a piece of statement bracelet adds style to any look.

I have the Black membership which allows me to pick 3 gorgeous pieces at any one time.

So last week when I was approached by Switch to talk about their jewelry subscription service I was very excited because beautiful jewelry can get a bit pricey and just like outfits – you do get tired of wearing the same few pieces over and over.

My first selection was this Givenchy bracelet that – not surprisingly, got a lot of compliments from complete strangers when I wore it to an event the day I got it lol.

They have all kinds of jewelry to choose from and 3 types of membership plans:

1. Gold | $29 – rent one piece of jewelry at any one time

2. Platinum | $49 – rent two pieces of jewelry at any one time

3. Black | $69 – rent 3 pieces of jewelry at any one time

Once you’ve chosen the type of membership plan that works for you – just pick the jewelry piece(s) you like and it gets shipped to you within a few days.

Another favorite – a sparkly and modern ear-stud!

Sending them back is easy too. Send the jewelry back in the Switch mailer box. There is a prepaid shipping label which you then use to stick right on top of the old mailing slip. It’s really that simple.

I really love the selection Switch has on their website – as they have everything from relatively unknown jewelry designers (which I love discovering!) to favorites like Eddie Borgo, Givenchy and Hermes. So if you’re looking to add amazing accessories to your outfits but don’t want to commit to just 1-2 pieces, Switch is the perfect solution. I also know that a lot of people need to wear a variety before deciding which pieces fit their wardrobe and/or lifestyle which is why again – Switch is perfect.

The only downside is – you will fall in love with a lot of the pieces. 🙂

It List: Blissful Bags

Thomas Wylde Bag in White

If there’s one fashion item that I’d have to invest on, it would be delectable Italian-leather made bags. A popular guilty pleasure but you know it’s worth every penny. Aside from shoes, it’s the one thing that could make or break an outfit or better yet, exist on its own as a fashion statement. Ladies, you’ve got to agree, everyone’s been a bagaholic once in they’re life! On this week’s IT LIST, see my must have bag list!

Being unique doesn’t mean you have to be bold and different in every way. Unique means that you’ll be able to stand out, let’s put it this way you’re at a tea party and when you entered the room a lady from the corner table is also wearing the same turquoise skirt that you have on. #FollowYourSpirit with Montblanc Legend

#FollowYourSpirit … and do whatever makes you happy.

Montblanc_FollowYourSpirit

When I was growing up, the symbol of success and class was the Montblanc pen. My dad had a couple engraved with his initials that he used for when he needed to attend important meetings. When not in use, they were tucked away safe and sound in their velvet-lined cases, safe from my childish hands. At high school graduation I settled for the Cross pen set, and it seemed a Montblanc remained as unattainable as scaling the actual Mont Blanc in the Alps.

In 2011, the company came out with a men’s fragrance named Legend with a price-point that was achievable even for those who are not titans of industry. Recently they followed it up with the scent Legend Spirit. Staying true to the “blanc” in their name, the flask-inspired bottle’s lower portion is white and the scent is crisp and clean.

The Montblanc’s slogan is “Follow Your Spirit” and I’m here to tell you that my spirit loves the smell and embraces my right to wear what I want!

The fragrance is billed as having hints of peppercorn and grapefruit, topped with lavender and cashmere. I ask you – what woman doesn’t love food, flowers and fine fabric? And the more traditionally masculine tones of wood and bergamot are just as pleasing to this palate. Montblanc manages to mix all these scents into a light, airy, and downright as cool as the icy slopes of the mountain for which it’s named.

A woman wearing men’s perfume might not be newsworthy but I think it symbolizes the right to question rules and norms specifically – you should be able to do whatever you want if it doesn’t hurt anyone else. As both an influencer and CEO of an influencer network that has 20,000 members, I hear everyday women telling me they feel like they are restricted by what they feel society expects them to be.

I have the spirit of a woman who really do not care for rules. I’ll wear men’s perfume, wear white after Labor Day, and I will definitely have cake for breakfast. And so, for the time being, I’m going to “follow my spirit” and dab on the scent that reminds me I’m free #followyourspirit

In Bloom With Banana Republic

Floral Suit By Banana Republic

Like many women, I juggle a number of lives every day.  I can go from a corporate business meeting to a casual lunch to running errands and then a dressy event in the evening. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the clothing budget to have a different ensemble for every facet of my life.

This is where having a split personality comes in handy.  I look for pieces that can play as many roles in my wardrobe as I have to in my life.  And that doesn’t just mean a pair of black pants or navy blazer that goes with everything.

This year floral is in fashion.  And I live in drought-ridden California where only the fake-grass is still green.  So I’ll take flowers wherever I can get them.  Which is why I gravitated to this amazing print at Banana Republic.  Look how versatile it actually is.

Here I paired the blazer with the pants but added their monotone (but with a great silver sheen) sweater. The button-up collared shirt underneath really pulls the outfit together as a formal suit.

Later I removed the blazer and shirt, leaving just the sweater and crop pants. It’s casual, sporty and fun.

I wore the same earrings with both outfits (“cat’s eye” stones!  Need I say more?  They had me at “cat.”)  Changing up my hairstyle took the looks from reserved to relaxed.

I find it ironic that the store is called “Banana Republic” which was a phrased originally used to refer to a country that relies on only one exported crop to survive.  The actual Banana Republic store has such a wide range of attire and their pieces can be used in so many different ways. That’s not one crop – that’s the entire produce department!

OK, maybe I don’t technically have a split personality, but I am starting to sound bananas…

Go green this St. Patrick’s Day

Fashionable Lady in Green Dress on Venice Beach Boardwalk

Going green this St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t just mean making sure to recycle any beer bottles you see lying around after a party. Because I love any excuse for dressing up, naturally an excuse to rock green on St.Patty’s appeal to me. But there is no reason why I can’t still look amazing while doing so.

By the way – Tradition has it that wearing green made one invisible to leprechauns who might pinch you. Just be careful picking the green that looks good with your coloring. And though Ireland may be the Emerald Isle, but there are other green gemstones.  Which are you?

Let Ireland keep their Blarney Stone while you opt for a more precious one.  Green is thought to attract growth in all areas including wealth, health and happiness.  Those strike me as better reasons to wear green than trying to avoid those nipping leprechauns.
