How To Look Fab In Five Mins Flat ( Promise!)
This is a sponsored post by Clarins - but the opinion is all my own.
My first interaction with Clarins began when I was very young, when I would watch my mother put on various creams and lotions from this respected French skincare brand on her porcelain skin. And on and off over the next couple of decades, I would 'borrow' her Clarins moisturizing creams and sun care lotions - all good, but I guess in a way, my inner rebel refused to actually purchase anything from Clarins due to the fact that it is one of my mother's favorite skincare brands.
Well now that I am older and more mature ( read: More and more, I often found myself purchasing and wearing the same items as my mother, so we obviously like a lot of the same things, so why fight it?) I don't have such petty issues anymore and so when Clarins wanted me to try out their makeup for their 5/10/15 minute makeup challenge, I thought, "Why not?"
First of all, they sent me quite a bit of product. I mean THREE bottles of foundations? But I was not deterred. I actually drove to the Clarins counter in Nordstrom Santa Monica ( shout out to Katerina at Clarins, you are now my favoritest Nordstrom salesperson) and asked the lovely Katerina to explain to me about said foundations (will try to cover this in a future blogpost).
But before that some facts about my skin:
I have fair~medium complexion ( color matched to Clarins' Honey in #110 ) and my skin is oily.
Oily skin tends to oxidize most foundation, making your foundation/skin look darker than it is after a while.
I have breakouts, mild hyper-pigmentation, clogged pores and all the other lovely problems oily skin brings.
Clarins' Teint Haute Tenue ( and now I am a convert!) is one of the foundations given to me, and it was the one I used for all my looks because it has buildable medium-to-full coverage as well as bamboo extract which is soothing to oily skin ( and I'm telling you, it makes my skin looks flawless.). Other than the fact I've yet to use the other types of foundations they sent me, I used the instructions on their site as follows:
5 mins To Natural ... using 5 products :
Here I used the foundation + Clarins brow kit ( I have really fair/fine brows!) + Cream Blush shade 02 (used this on my cheeks and lips) + Be Long Mascara, and Instant Light + Natural Lip Perfector in Rose.
It really took me less than 5 mins to put on my makeup on and I believe the secret is the amazing foundation. I mean, if you have a great base, it's really hard to mess things up. As you can see, there is slight undereye darkness because I am not wearing any concealer, but I think for days when you're not really looking to see anyone, or when you're in a rush, this 5 minute routine is perfect.
10 Mins To Polished ... using 8 products:
Here I used everything I used before , but adding the instant concealer after putting on foundation, lining my eyes with the Crayon Kohl pencil and putting on some bright pink Rouge Eclat lippy in Sweet Rose.
I have to admit, this is the look I love the most. Concealer as once famous makeup artist once said, is the secret of the universe and Clarins' amazing concealer instantly brightens up my eyes. Also, the bright lipstick just makes me feel happier.
15 Mins To Fabulous ... using 10 products:
So it happened that it was date night that night so I had 5 more minutes to turn my 10 minutes "polished" look to '"fabulous" . Here I used the 3 dot liner on my upper eyelids, and swapped my pink lipstick with Rouge Eclat in red fuchsia. I also changed my parting ( a trick I learned to refresh volume). Tadaaaa :
PS: I don't know why I look more pale here, but I find that wearing red lipstick always makes me look a less tanned. Or maybe it's the night time lighting.
And now, for you my dear Ambitionistas ... do enter to WIN - Clarins' Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Rose. All you have to do is click here, then come back and comment on which Heidi do you like the best.
You look gorgeous in all your pictures, but I think my favorite was the second one. You look actually serene and comfortable there 🙂
Hmm, I like the first one, simple but still looks poised and beautiful!
I like all the Heidis that I see here 🙂 The red lips is my favorite though, I just love red in you! 3rd pic!
I vote for the first picture, Heidi, you look gorgeous!
I use Clarins too, I love their products and I would never get tire using them. Their moisturizing cream always helps makes my skin look fresh and replenished all the time.
By the way, my vote goes to the second one, you look stunning and your eyes shows that you’re glowing..
Actually, you look great in all your pictures! But my favorite would have to be the one in the middle. Gorgeous locks, beautiful face and simple make-up. I love it!
I liked what the 5-min ritual with the Clarins foundation did.. You look amazing beyond simplicity! THe first one is definitely my vote!
My mom also used Clarins when she was younger, so she basically introduced me to the product and have been a user since college (I was not much of a make-up girl when I was in high school). I think the first picture says everything, your beauty, simplicity, awesomeness!
Clarins had always been one of my favorite cosmetic & skin care products. My favorite is the Eau Dynamisante Moisturizing Body Lotion.
With the pictures above, I’m having a hard time choosing, because you look great in all those pics. But if I have to really take a pick, the second one would be IT!
you look amazing heidi! love the various looks, super easy! thanks for sharing the clarins, i want to try their products now! xoxo
I like what you did with the 5 minute regimen. I will definitely try this one out – Clarins oundation + Clarins brow kit + Cream Blush + Be Long Mascara, and Instant Light + Natural Lip Perfector
Thanks for sharing your 5-minute miracle beauty tip 🙂
The lighting in the third pic didn’t do you justice! I know you look glamorous in red, I’d definitely choose the third, except for the paleness or extreme lighting blocking your beauty..
I’m kind of like other ladies who spend hours and hours in front of the mirror applying makeup. There’s just so many endless blush-ons and foundations I have to choose from! I’ll see if I can make out your 5-minute makeup tip. Or the 15 minutes, I guess that would be the most applicable one for me.
By the way, you look great on all your pictures!
I would have to agree with Kelly here. Extreme lighting aside, you look great with red lipstick. It even brings out the cat-eyes in you, it’s pretty awesome!
I’ll vote for the first one. Looks simple but girl, you look beautiful!
Love all three but I love the simplicity of the first one.
I love all your pictures, all of the above. But if I really have to choose, I’d vote for number 1 🙂
Number 2, definitely! I like the 10-minute regimen, it also helps bring out some color in you. Lovely!
Thanks so much for sharing your 5 – 15 minutes makeup miracle, Clarins for sure is a great product to use. If I have to vote for your best look, my vote goes to # 2 🙂
You look good in everything, whether it’s a 5-minute beauty miracle or 15 minutes regimen. I can’t choose just 1, so I choose all 🙂
You look great in everything Heidi, there’s no question to that. Love the simple you, gorgeous you, and casual you, so I can’t choose!
I’m trying out that 5 min-miracle using the 5 Clarins products you mentioned. I hope I can achieve that simple but elegant look that you exude.
Whatever product you use, I am definite that everything looks great on you, that’s why I’m having a hard time choosing the best one for you.. you look amazing in all three!
You nailed the Polished look # 2. You look divine!
Back when I was still working in an office in Manhattan, I could do a 5-minute makeup inside the subway and be able to maintain that look for a couple hours. After almost 4 years of doing that, I think I’ve become an expert, until I quit to have a baby. So I would love to try it out again, using your 50min regimen and hopefully would look as good as you 🙂
Wow, I can’t actually choose one because you look amazing in all three!
What a gorgeous girl~ I love all your looks, but my favorite would be # 2
I love the first look!
I choose number 2, it looks good on you Heidi!
Thanks for these easy-to-do make up techniques. I’ve got my own collection of Clarins products too and I’ll make sure to follow your steps for a gorgeous look! I love your picture number 2
You know what, I like seeing your natural beauty and picture number 2 effectively catches it. Glad to take and follow your 10 minute miracle 🙂
I think whether you use only 1 product of a multitude of them, you always come up more beautiful than ever. I’m a big fan of your fashion blog and have learned a lot especially with doing make-up, so I vote on all three!
I use Clarins’ Honey in #110 too, it’s perfect for my skin complexion. I would surely try these 5-10 minute miracles of yours and hopefully achieve a simple yet sophisticated look.
You look great in all of your pictures, no questions about that. If I have to choose though, I think I love number 1.
Definitely Number 1 – simple and chic but still eye-catching!
Thanks for sharing your miracle makeup guides. I am a busy girl and would love to get things done in 5 minutes flat. Of course this would be possible if I got the right products. Thanks for your post.
Gorgeous! You look marvelous in every way, sleek and simple and sophisticated. If I would have to vote, I choose number 2
I tried Clarins once and I’m impressed. You do look awesome sauce in all your pictures, gotta love a girl who looks great at all angles!
Oh Heidi, however much or less makeup you put, you and I both know you look great in everything 🙂 So I can’t really choose any!
All make-up styles look good on you, just sayin… I like number 2 though, it’s like you look refreshed and up and about..
I pick 1 – you look simply beautiful!
I think we have the same skin types – I’m also medium fair complexioned but with oily skin. I’ll try out these Clarins products you mentioned to help me with my skin issues. You look beautiful as always, Heidi!
I have oily skin too and have been using all kinds of products to lessen the greasy texture on my face and arms. Not an easy feat, I tell you, but I will definitely try all possibilities just to get that fair skin complexion I’ve always wanted. I will get this Clarins products and try them.
Big thanks for the 5 minute and 10-15 minutes make up tips! A girl should always look beautiful and refreshed, so using the right products is a must!
I love your whole collection of Clarins, it’s definitely important to look great everyday and having a 5-minute routine of makeup to make you pretty is a must, to make us feel beautiful not just on the outside but also deep inside
you look marvelous in everything!
Your beauty transcends time, whatever makeup you wear, that I am sure of, so I choose all your pictures. I can’t choose just one.
Girl, you are one hot lady in every angle, whether you look simple, sophisticated, domesticated or ready for a ball. I vote for all pictures!
I like the second one!
Oh girl, you look every bit beautiful whether you made your makeup in just 5 minutes or an hour. I actually envy your beauty 🙂
Gorgeous! All your pictures are gorgeous, I can’t pick my favorite!
Girl, I like your simple beauty, its refreshing and stunning! So I pick # 1
I think you look really gorgeous in every picture. You’re a real beauty with or without makeup too!
I wish Clarins could give me three sets of products and Id gladly take these minute-makeup regime! You look lovely on all of your pictures, by the way.
I would have to agree with everyone. You look every bit beautiful in all those pictures.
